Russia and Uganda discuss cooperation in mechanical engineering and energy

Russian President Vladimir Putin and Ugandan President Yoweri Museveni discussed issues of interest to Uganda during Putin’s official residence outside Moscow, involving cooperation in the fields of military technology, mechanical engineering, energy, agriculture, and infrastructure construction.

Putin said: "I am very pleased with your visit. I think that we can seriously discuss the direction of cooperation and establish a collaboration mechanism today. There are many cooperation directions. I know that we have mutual expertise in machine building, infrastructure development, energy and military technology. Interest in cooperation."

Yoweri Museveni said Uganda is interested in these issues.

Uganda is located in eastern Africa and has a population of approximately 33.4 million. Uganda is rich in various minerals: there are many copper, gold, tin, *, magnetite, antimony, bismuth, chromium ore, tungsten, antimony, zirconium, hafnium, apatite (largest in East Africa) mines and construction raw materials. There is also a wealth of hydropower potential. Oil and gas fields have been discovered in western Uganda. According to the latest estimates, there are actually reserves of 6-8 million barrels.
