Smart fitter robot can process hardware

The Press Office of the Far Eastern Federal University of Russia stated that it has jointly developed a new adaptive industrial robot system with the Far East Division of the Russian Academy of Sciences for the processing of metal castings.

It is said that this new technology is unique in the world. The components of the robot are now undergoing actual inspection at the Vladivostok Far East Instrument Factory (Dalpribor).

Vladimir Filaretov, head of the Department of Automation and Control at the Far Eastern Federal University's School of Engineering, explained that mechanical machining was done manually, taking a lot of time and generating a lot of waste. The system uses an artificial intelligence method that eliminates the need for worker operations and allows the robot to determine where machining is required and to perform high-precision operations.

According to the plan, the system will be fully invested in the production process of the Far East Instrument Factory soon. Systems, equipment and software are protected by patents.
