Method for realizing spiral machining on ordinary wire cutting machine

The ordinary wire cutting machine is a typical two-axis linkage type CNC machine tool, which can only be used as a cutting process for various two-dimensional graphics, and its processing technology is relatively narrow. How to broaden the processing technology range of ordinary wire cutting machine tools to better meet the objective production needs has always been a concern of the majority of wire cutting users. Based on the author's many years of practical work experience, this paper introduces the method of spiral machining on ordinary wire cutting machine.

Implementation of spiral motion

The spiral motion is synthesized by two basic motions, linear motion and rotational motion. To achieve spiral machining on a conventional wire-cutting machine, in addition to using one of the wire-cutting machines (X-axis or Y-axis) to obtain linear motion, we must also use another axis (Y-axis or X-axis) and the necessary The auxiliary device turns the workpiece up. Proceed as follows:

1. According to the models of the stepping gears (including the gearbox and stepping motor) used in the existing wire-cutting machine, go directly to the manufacturer to purchase one or make one. If it is made by itself, the main parameters (including the parameters of the stepper motor and the gear ratio of the gearbox) are preferably the same as the original ones, which can simplify the programming problems in the specific processing. Also note:

(1) There should be no gap engagement between the meshing gears in the gearbox. To ensure the machining accuracy, there is absolutely no backlash allowed. The gear meshing gap can be eliminated by superimposing a two-piece thin gear as shown in FIG. 1 and adding a tension spring in the middle.
