U.S. Scientists Discover New Three-body Atomic Bound States

According to a report from the American Daily Science Network on July 3, scientists at Kansas State University in the United States have discovered a new three-body atom bound state within the atom. In this state, three identical atoms are loosely attached. This quantum state is different from the three-body bound state previously discovered. The temperature of these supercooled atomic gases lies in degrees Kelvin above absolute zero and this temperature exists only in the laboratory. Isere said that in order to observe new quantum states, it is necessary to use the same supercooled atomic gas for experiments, because the new quantum state will only exist at this temperature.

The scientists also found that the bound state of the three-body Yefimov appears only in supercooled bosons (microscopic particles whose spins are integers), while the new bound states appear both in bosons and in bosons. In fermions (referring to microparticles that spin into half integers), all substances can be classified into these two types of particles.

Isere pointed out that another difference between the new bound state and the bound state of the three-body Yefeimov is that the bound state of the three-body Yefeimov exists only in the short-range interaction; and the new bound state exists in the short-range mutual. Between interactions and long-range interactions - short-range and long-range are the distances at which effective interactions between particles occur. Isere says that in long-range interactions, particles are far apart and interact and interact with each other without contact. In short-range interactions, particles must be very close.
