European Commission decides not to levy anti-dumping duty on Chinese stainless steel temporarily
The European Commission will not impose anti-dumping duties on certain stainless steel products imported from China, South Korea and Taiwan. They said that after a full investigation, they will vote after 6 months.
For the Chinese steel industry, this is another good news following last month’s decision not to levy anti-dumping duties on hot- dip galvanizing in China. The European Commission stated that preliminary investigations showed that the stainless steel cold rolled products imported from China have not caused any damage to Europe.
Some countries expressed their support for this decision of the European Commission. Some countries have not made clear their position, while others are still lobbying for taxation after six months. According to reports, the European Steel Union, which represents European steel producers such as ThyssenKrupp and ArcelorMittal, asked the European Commission to conduct an investigation last year.
