China into the world's largest photovoltaic module terminal market

NPD Solarbuzz's latest Solarbuzz Quarterly report indicates that China has become the world's largest PV module terminal market in 2012, and China's market demand accounts for 33% of the global terminal market's total demand.

Prior to this, the Chinese market accounted for less than 10% of global PV demand. According to analysis, the rapid rise of the Chinese market has several factors, including the slowdown in the European market due to the downward adjustment of stimulus policies, while the Chinese government has launched a series of strong policies to expand the domestic market while supporting domestic manufacturers.

In the fourth quarter of 2012, the global demand for photovoltaics rose to 8.3 GW, which is basically in line with expectations of PV manufacturers for year-end seasonal pick-ups. However, the major demand market moved from Europe to China at the end of 2012, presenting new challenges to the photovoltaic industry. In 2012, the demand for photovoltaics in the Chinese market was mainly concentrated in the second half of the year. The demand in the fourth quarter accounted for about 60% of the total annual demand.
