8th largest machine tool orders decreased by 16% year-on-year

In the second half of the year (October 2012-March 2013), due to the slowdown in China’s orders, orders for external demand decreased. In addition, due to the appreciation of the yen at the end of 2012, domestic demand was not favorable. According to statistics, in 2012, domestic demand for orders for eight major machine tool manufacturers in Japan was 162.857 billion yen, down 15.6% year-on-year; orders for external demand were 288.136 billion yen, down 16.3% year-on-year. The proportion of external demand decreased by 0.2 percentage points to 63.9%. Separate from the first half of the year, the total machine tool orders in the first half of the year decreased by 9.4% year-on-year, and the second half of the year decreased by 22.9%.
