22 Additives will be Monitored by *** Non-Tan Listed

The Ministry of Health announced the progress of food safety work yesterday. Up to now, 64 kinds of non-edible substances that may be illegally added, such as *** and dichlorvos, and 22 kinds of food additives that are easily abused have entered the “blacklist” key monitoring.

The Ministry of Health reported that in 2009, the Ministry of Health, together with the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology, the Ministry of Public Security, the Ministry of Supervision, the Ministry of Agriculture, the Ministry of Commerce, the State Administration for Industry and Commerce, the General Administration of Quality Supervision, Inspection and Quarantine, and the State Food and Drug Administration, set up a national crackdown on illegal activities. Add a special rectification leading group for non-edible substances and abuse of food additives. At present, a total of sixty-four types of non-edible substances that may be illegally added and 22 types of food additives that are easily abused have been “blacklisted”. Among them, the non-edible substances that may be illegally added include ***, dichlorvos, etc.

In accordance with the “National Food Safety Risk Monitoring Plan 2010”, the Ministry of Health organized risk monitoring for a total of 67 categories of 124,000 foods that consumed a large amount of food on a daily basis. At present, the Expert Committee on Food Safety Risk Assessment is organizing experts to evaluate the monitoring data.

The Ministry of Health stated that this year will organize the formulation and publication of the "National Food Safety Standard Plan (2011-2015)" to speed up the revision of food safety standards and further improve the food safety standards system. At the same time, it will improve the food safety risk monitoring and evaluation system and step up the establishment of a national food safety risk assessment center.
